The North East Township Wage Tax Office collects Earned Income Tax (EIT) and Local Services Tax (LST) for both North East Township and the Borough of North East.

Residents of the Borough of North East who have earned income are required by local ordinance to file a local return with the tax office. Filing is required even if the taxpayer's employer withheld local tax from wages and no tax is due.

Employers within the Borough of North East are required to withhold the 1% local tax from all employees, and to file quarterly and yearly with the tax office. Employers are also required to withhold $52 per year for the Local Services Tax from each employee. The LST withholding is pro-rated over each pay period throughout the year.

IMPORTANT TAX FILING ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL NORTH EAST TAXPAYERS AND EMPLOYERS.

Pennsylvania Act 32 of 2008 changes the way that Earned Income Taxes will be collected within North East and Erie County. Beginning with tax year 2012, Berkheimer Associates has been contracted to collect Earned Income Tax. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL 2011 RETURNS ARE FILED WITH THE NORTH EAST WAGE TAX OFFICE.

Residents of the Borough of North East:

2011 Local Individual Income Tax Returns are to be filed with the North East Township and Borough of North East Wage Tax Office at the address above.

2012 tax years and beyond are to be filed with Berkheimer Associates.

Employers within North East Township and the Borough of North East:

2011 Fourth Quarter Returns and 2011 year-end forms are to filed with the North East Township and Borough of North East Wage Tax Office at the address above.

2012 tax years and beyond are to be filed with Berkheimer Associates. Both Earned Income Tax and Local Services Tax will be collected by Berkheimer for North East Township and Borough.
